It is a facility designed to assist physically and mentally challenged individuals through therapeutic riding at no cost. Whispers of Hope Horse Farm’s goal is to provide a safe, educational and therapeutic environment for the horse and rider in a Christian based atmosphere.

 All youth who reside in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma are eligible to participate in the program.

THERAPEUTIC RIDING

Research has proven that students who participate in therapeutic riding can experience physical, emotional, and mental rewards. Individuals with impaired mobility can benefit from the gentle and rhythmic movements of their bodies with the horse, similar to a human walking gait. These riders can experience increased balance, muscle control, and strength. Individuals with learning or mental disabilities are motivated by riding to increase concentration, patience, and discipline. The unique relationship formed with a horse can help improve interpersonal relationships when psychological and emotional disabilities are present. All riders can benefit from increased self-esteem and coping skills.

THERAPY SESSIONS

Weekly Therapeutic Riding Lessons

Weekly lessons with our certified instructors provide direct guidance and therapeutic sessions. Each individual will be scheduled for a once-a-week individual visit, or as part of a group of four to five  (based on need and availability). We assign a specific horse to the individual so that they may develop a bond of trust with the horse. The volunteers and the students will work together each week. There will be exercises, games, and events that the students will participate in to develop the skills they individually need.  Encouragement for learning and betterment is very much apart of the program here.
